Introduce yourself!
Hey guys,
I hope you like this forum. I figure we Zukertort players should stick together, share some triumphs and some not-so-triumphs, and help with sticky analysis questions. -David |

RE: Introduce yourself!
Greetings. I am a Colle-Zukertort convert after losing a few games with the Colle-Koltanowski (problems developing the c-bishop to a good post). I've looked at Polgar's DVD on the Zukertort, and have both the Summerscale and Lane books, but I like David's better. USCF rating: 1641, so there's PLENTY of room for improvement.

ZCC Wrote:Hi all! Well, I hate to say it...but most of the time if Black plays g6, the Zuke is still not the way to go. [Trust me, I tried to find a way to use it against the KID]. The good news is that the only good of way doing this AFTER White has already played 3.e3 [The Sneaky Gruenfeld: 1.d4 d5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.e3 g6!?] CAN be met with a Zuke move order...and very well! So that's good. |

RE: Introduce yourself!
Hi,
My name is Srikanth. I live in Los Angeles. My USCF rating is 1550. My favorite place to hang out is Los Angeles Chess Club. I have played Colle-Zukertort for more than 3 years. I used to play Stonewall Attack, inspired by "How to think ahead in chess". Due to a lack of literature on a repertoire based on Stonewall Attack, I switched to "a killer Chess opening Repertoire" - that is how I started playing CZ. I have read David's book at least once cover to cover and read the chapters 4 and 5 at least 5 times. I am a great fan of Zuke' EM. Srikanth. |

Greetings everyone. My name is John Dowling from Lima, OH, USA. I've been a C-Z player off and on for many years. I'm a USCF Expert (and a former master until I got old and senile). I play a lot of corresspondence chess and I also play on ICC (handle:bkahuna). I've quickly gone through Dave's first edition and I'm awaiting the second edition. Dave has done a great job in coming up with some interesting new ideas. However, many of these ideas need testing both in practice and in the analytical lab. I've made many notes/questions and hope to share with this forum once I see the new edition. My intent is not to critize, but to help contribute to a more solid foundation on which to evaluate this somewhat under analyzed opening.

RE: Introduce yourself!
Would you happen to be the John Dowling who was (at least) expert strength in Minnesota during the 1970's? I never played you, but the word among us "fish" was that you could be a dominating player.

I realize Bob [the publisher] made it seem otherwise, but the "new edition," while having scads and scads of typos fixed only really adds analysis to about 3 places. So anything that looks off in the first version will probably still look off. However, it probably is a good idea to hold off for another week so everyone can be on the same PAGE [quite literally!] and also so a few of the other expert/master/senior master types can find their way in. I'm hoping, at the very least, a year from now the C-Z will be a much more powerful weapon than it is contended to be now ![]() Cheers to all! |

RE: Introduce yourself!
Greetings, young 'uns.
I am Mark, from Westfield, Massachusetts. Over the past 10 years, I have played in only two tournaments because of job schedule demands, but I still hold an expert rating from many moons before. When I retire in few more years, I hope to reactivate. I'm here mainly to learn the Colle-Zukertort properly, having been a devotee of the king's fianchetto for most of my playing years (Tiger's Modern, reversed, being typical). Good luck, and I'll be around intermittently. |
