David's New Book Reviewed
Hello David and all my fellow Colle players!
I haven't been around for a wee while due to pc problems (it was knackered and I had to save up for a new one! ), but to mark my return to chess and this forum I would like to put up a link to a review of David's newest book, published on my favourite chess site.Chandler Cornered is hosted on the Chess Edinburgh website and is the funniest, wittiest and most urbane of chess columns- and I would say that even if he hadn't published a position from one of my games! Follow this link for the review and do yourself a favour by checking out the back issues too- there are even photos of my local pub! http://www.chessedinburgh.co.uk/chandler...handID=376 (I'm afraid I can't remember how to make it go blue and be a click-on link- sorry.) [Looks like I did make it into a link after all- Enjoy yourselves!] |

I have also seen a mention of one of the Zuke books in an article on the best new books of last year in "Chess" magazine, published in the UK. It is a small mention compared to those for Kasparov and other more famous authors, but significant none the less. I'll post the text when I can find the magazine under all this christmas rubbish around here... |

(01-02-2010 06:03 AM)Rudel Wrote: Excellent! Thanks, I had not heard of that one. It is from an Article at the back of the January 2010 (Volume 74, No.10) edition of Chess. The first 7 pages contain fairly detailed reiews of writer Sean Marsh's favourite 6 books of 2009, with authors such as Karsten Mueller and some guy called Kasparov- rings a bell somewhere- and the article then finishes with: "The books reiewed above are my favourites from 2009. Several others deserve honourable mentions, and they are: " 5 further books are listed; 'Isaac Kashdan, American Chess Grandmaster' by Peter P. Lahde, 'Chess Middlegames' by GM Ivan Sokolov, 'Counterattack!' by GM Zenon Franco and 'Dangerous Weapons: The Pirc and the Modern' by IM Richard Palliser, GM Colin McNabb & IM James Vigus. Right in the middle of these (very good company you are keeping these days!) is the following pararaph: The Moment Of Zuke By David Rudel A thought-provoking book on the Colle System. David Rudel has certainly tried to do something different from the norm and one gains the impression that the material has been very carefully chosen to aid the learning process. Short but sweet and at the same time encapsulating one of the best aspects of the 2 Zuke books. |

Great, thanks.
Sean Marsh just published a review of the updated Zuke 'Em book as well. |

RE: David's New Book Reviewed
The chess article was based on my ongoing series of chess reviews, posted on my blog.
I did a similar article for the January 2009 CHESS. The clock is ticking now to find the best books of 2010, to be featured (hopefully) in the January 2011 edition of CHESS, so get writing, Mr. Rudel!

RE: David's New Book Reviewed
I'll have at least one out this year, I think. Two is becoming a fainter and fainter hope.
