RE: Refutation of the Nc3 line (after the Ne5 choice)
He's just showing one way for Black to survive the attack White gets.
However, I now consider this option [8.Ne5] one designed to give White practical chances, and it appears to have done its job here! Note, White would not play Ng4 here since the Queen covers the Knight on f6. He should instead play a4 [to stop a later ...b4] and then play Raf1, planning to press f5 soon. |

RE: Refutation of the Nc3 line (after the Ne5 choice)
On second thought David: I think you might be right with this one! I was too much fixated on the Ng4 option and closed the eyes for othet options. However Black seem to do ok in the drawish a4 line.

RE: Refutation of the Nc3 line (after the Ne5 choice)
Well, it's unclear how much this line should even be debated... there are clearly ways for Black to get a small advantage if he knows exactly what to do...but in practice OTB, Black has not appeared to be able to do that. It's fighting chess...but it is not irrefutable.
