super sneaky gruenfeld
I'm playing in a Gameknot team match and my opponent played a "sneakier" guenfeld. 1. d4 Nf6 2. Nf3 g6.

didn't even wait for e3.

The obvious move is c4 or even Bg5. However I couldn't find anything in zukem so I played e3 to transpose into the sneaky covered in chapter 9.

my reason was that if i play c4 before he plays d5, he will play d6 and then i'm completely in new territory and don't want to have to learn a new line. So here is my question.

Is it better to play an inferior position that I know well or a better position that i don't know?

I vote for the former which is why i playe.d e3 and blocked in my Bishop. That way I could practice the chapter 9 material.

What are your opinions?

RE: super sneaky gruenfeld
Uhm...this isn't a "super sneaky gruenfeld" this is just the normal gruenfeld or the KID.

Palliser's book treats these systems, but you might want to look in the threads on "A new idea against ...g6," we've had a lot of discussion about this.
